For over a week, smoke from Canadian wildfires has shut down US airspace.

The FAA slowed flights into Philadelphia, paused arrivals at Detroit and Buffalo, and United had to issue an air quality warning covering 17 airports.

Trump isn’t just mad about the haze.

He says Canada isn’t managing its forests, and he wants that cost added straight onto Canada’s tariffs.

Then he followed through.

This week Trump hit Canada with a 50% tariff on everything from wine to hockey sticks to cement — officially over cars, dairy, and alcohol disputes.

Carney says Canada’s ready to talk. Ontario’s premier wants to hit back dollar for dollar.

But Ontario Premier Doug Ford saved his real anger for the smoke fight.

He called Trump’s complaints “rubbish” and pushed back hard — pointing out Canada has sent firefighters and water bombers to help the US before, no charge, no complaints.

One neighbor’s fires are grounding American flights. The other is sending a tariff bill instead of a hand.
