Leaving your pillow in the sun feels like a good idea. The UV light does a bit of surface work. The heat dries out the sweat you left behind. But the sunlight cannot reach the stuffing inside. That is where the dust mites live. An afternoon on the clothesline will not sterilize a pillow or kill the things living deep inside it. Real hygiene requires washing pillowcases in hot water every week and throwing the entire pillow away after two years.
