It took nearly a year of burnt components and crashed test flights. But Canadian engineer John Tse finally built a quadcopter into the canopy of an umbrella.
He wired a Raspberry Pi to a depth camera. The lens locks onto his head and the drone moves exactly where he walks. The umbrella is terrible in heavy wind. The battery life is short. The exposed propellers are a massive safety hazard if it loses signal. It is entirely impractical. But he never has to hold an umbrella again.
