Dinner: bowls with avocado, buckwheat, garlic shrimp, edamame beans, eggs and fried tofu.

I am a masters student at one of the top universities in my country. I am doing well and I have had a job as a researcher for the past two years. It's like a dream come true for younger me. Up until recently, I was very sure I want to pursue this, get my PhD and become a scientist. My colleagues would ask if I will pursue a PhD in their department and I always said yes.

I can't tell if I'm going through burnout, but the grass looks greener everywhere I look. I just can't shake the feeling of wanting to go to a different place. My skillet is pretty niche and sought after, so if I left for a private company, I could land a well-paying job.

Thing is, my supervisor has gone above and beyond to teach me all he knows. He was the one to help me get everywhere I want research wise, from working here to internships. I'm being included in the plans of future research projects. And he, like other colleagues, hopes I will finish my PhD and continue working in their department. I feel like I owe him to at least finish my PhD in a way. But the temptation to just run elsewhere is strong.

I know I have it good working here. Could this just be burnout? Or did I simply not fully know what I'm getting myself into when I chose a job in research?

Edit: added avocado to ingredients list cause I forgot lol
