JUST IN: According to the New York Post, Mayor Zohran Mamdani told The New York Times that his administration is engaged in an “active conversation” with the city’s Law Department about whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested during his expected visit to New York City in September for the U.N. General Assembly.
Mamdani said he is uncertain whether he has the legal authority to instruct the NYPD to carry out such an arrest, but stated that the city would take whatever action is permitted under existing law.

A bill proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders would permanently reduce the standard U.S. workweek to 32 hours without lowering workers’ pay or benefits.
Sanders has introduced the Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act, legislation that would shorten the standard workweek to 32 hours while ensuring employees do not lose wages or benefits.
Under the proposal, non-exempt workers would become eligible for time-and-a-half overtime pay after working more than 32 hours in a week, while shifts exceeding 12 hours in a single day would qualify for double-time pay. Sanders argues that although American worker productivity has increased by more than 400 percent since the 40-hour workweek was established in 1940, wages have largely remained stagnant while CEO compensation has risen dramatically.
The proposal has received support from major labor organizations, including the AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers, which argue that workers should benefit from advances in artificial intelligence and automation. Supporters also point to trial programs in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, where some companies reported higher productivity, reduced employee burnout, and increased revenues.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio met on Thursday with officials from more than 60 countries to discuss what the State Department describes as a renewed rise in far-left political violence worldwide.

The UK plans to introduce a default overnight social media curfew for 16- and 17-year-olds starting in 2027.

During the speech, Trump criticized ABC and NBC, saying, “They don’t like the topic because they know how corrupt our system is, and they don’t want to reveal it. They and others in the media are part of a plot. They want to continue this fraud for whatever reason. They want to keep it going. They want to protect the radical left.”
Although ABC and NBC made the speech available through their online streaming platforms, they did not broadcast it on their main television networks, with the exception of some Sinclair-owned local stations. CNN also chose not to carry the address live.
It is not unprecedented for major television networks to decline to air presidential primetime speeches. For example, ABC, CBS, and NBC did not broadcast President Barack Obama’s 2014 primetime address on immigration.
