He's such a sweet boy. He's got troublepuffs so I'm hoping to get him neutered asap bc my entire house minus the kitchen and the bathroom is carpeted.

I have two other cats as well, both shorthaired females, both spayed. They have been around a third cat (who was male as well) before when I was living with an ex roommate. I have the finances for all three's care, and the ability to keep them isolated and let them work out territory stuff, so I'm not too worried about the usual stuff. I've got lots of flea stuff for them and the carpets because this isn't my first rodeo with taking in strays and battling infestations. 😅

But I am looking for advice on how to actually like, brush a long-haired cat and keep up on his fur, since I've never ever owned / been around like, a long-haired cat enough to know how to maintain their fur on particular. He has no undercoat, so I imagine this helps a bit. But his tail and underbelly's a little matted in some spots, with leaves and dirt and whatever else he's gotten into outside. It was going to be another crazy hot day, and the air quality from the Canada wildfires is bad so I couldn't just let him stay outside anymore. It's bad enough that my other cat (who has asthma) was having more asthma attacks last night.

I love him and he's so freakin' sweet. Gonna get him checked for a microchip and such too to make sure he's not missing, but with how he's been at my house day and night at all odd hours and just how matted he looks, unneutered, and it seems like nobody's been looking for him (checked all of the missing cats stuff for my area and nearby areas), I think he's a true stray and well, he's mine now.
