Okay the fruitless search is killing me. My wife and I bought a home in Western PA almost 2 years ago, and when we moved in, we noticed these…things, in the basement. There is this one by the stairs, and then one in every single windowsill for those glass block basement windows. I have zero clue what it could be and neither does any search engine lol.

My assumption off the bat is some kind of fruit, given the stem, but who just…puts fruit in every window of a small unfinished basement? That seems nonsensical, especially to leave it there to just decompose?

These have no odor to them and are hard as stone, but ill admit I only ever touched them once or twice and we kinda let them be because it wasnt a bother. Im just curious. We're they placed as some kind of insect/pest repellant? Aesthetic choice? Meth adventures? Who knows lol
