“NO!”

That’s all one pilot got back after politely asking about his taxi clearance.

San Diego International Airport has just ONE runway.

That’s it.

And on this particular morning, planes were landing before their gates were even ready, leaving the taxiway packed and going nowhere fast.

A United pilot keyed up first, just trying to get an update.

He got shut down hard, then a slightly longer explanation: one taxiway, planes everywhere, no gates open, doesn’t matter if you’re first in line or 14th.

Then a Southwest pilot tried his luck.

He was told to wait because of inbound traffic.

He pushed back, saying the plane had already landed and was heading to the gate. The controller told him to look east and see for himself another one was coming

That’s when the pilot lost it: “Sounds like you need to be replaced.”

The controller didn’t back down either.

“Sounds like you have the attitude over there too.”

And then, out of nowhere, another pilot chimed in with the remark that’s now going viral: “Go back to LaGuardia!”

Some say the controller was simply overwhelmed at one of the country’s most challenging airports and the pilots should have been more patient.

Others argue that professionalism should never disappear, no matter how stressful the situation becomes.
