a week before i found out my ex was trying to cheat on me on dating apps while i was going through a major life crisis (had to move back to my home country mid degree), he told me i couldn’t do it. he said i didn’t have it in me to pass a competitive exam, to get into a good uni, to survive moving to a new city, to make friends and flourish there. he said i didn’t know anything before we started dating and his guidance had shaped my life. he even said i know nothing about my major and what i want to study. which is all not true. when i heard this, i knew it was his time, but his inherent disbelief of my success planted seeds of doubt in my mind. since our breakup, i have passed and gotten a great competitive score in my exam and will be getting into a good uni. i am moving to a new city in 15 days and while i dont have a lot of things figured out i know i can do it, because i have done it before without him mind you. while it is scary it feels so good to slowly prove him wrong until one day i wont care to prove myself to him at all. until then we celebrate our wins and we relish in the fact that it only goes up from here 🙂
