This piece was specifically painted as part of the theatrical scenic and stage design for a production of Georg Büchner's satirical play Leonce and Lena. The show premiered on March 22, 1972, at The National Theatre (Nationaltheatret) in Oslo, Norway, where Hrůza worked extensively as a chief scenographer after emigrating from Czechoslovakia. The signature is that of artist Luboš Hrůza, 1933-2008
