So the idea was a partial hysterectomy and keep the ovaries, but after reading the stories others have provided about their hysterectomies, I’m not going to rush it. Every woman on both sides of my family excluding one had a hysterectomy before 35, so I’m sure it’s in my future anyway, but not going to rush it if I can avoid it now that others have informed me of the adverse effects. For reference, I’m 29 cis bisexual woman married to a 33 straight cis man. On Tuesday, I have my annual gynecologist appointment. I currently have the nexplanon as a form of birth control. I have a long family history of endometriosis and other gynecological issues. Prior to the last six months, I had planned to ask my doctor for a salpingectomy to remove my tubes as a more permanent form of birth control. My husband and I have no kids and no plans to have kids. We’re hard core against it because we both were parentified by our parents and raised siblings. I really want a hysterectomy. Like I don’t need the parts so why keep them? Obvi leave an ovary for hormones and what not, but I want to ditch the rest. Unfortunately, I’m in Louisiana where reproductive health is a major topic. I struggle to advocate for myself when it comes to my health and I really want to do this right. How do I go about asking my doctor for a hysterectomy? What questions is she going to ask me about reasoning? I want to be prepared and not chicken out.
