Girlies, I need some advice while I snack waiting on the train.

Would you stay in a relationship with someone you’ve been with for less than a year if they’ve spent more than half of that time without a full-time job?

I know there’s more to the situation than just that, but this has become my biggest concern. I’ve worked really hard to build a stable career and a good life for myself, and lately I’ve started feeling like I’m carrying the weight of the relationship financially. I’m struggling with whether that’s a temporary rough patch or a sign of a bigger issue.

I want to have kids in the near future, and I don’t want to find myself supporting a grown adult, pets, and children all at once. I need a partner who can contribute consistently and share the responsibilities of building a life together.

Part of me wonders if we’d be better off as friends until he gets his life on track and can maintain stable employment. Am I being unreasonable, or is this a valid concern?
