it feels like every time i come online i'm forced to ask myself, "is this real, or ai?".
this takeover is terrifying to me. it's bad enough that it's all being funded by The Worst People in The World™, but it's gotten to the point that i'll stare at something for ages before confirming if it's legitimate. i thought i had a good eye for this stuff, but as time goes on, it's getting harder.
that should scare everyone! if we can't believe our eyes, what can we believe? it's crazy that there's been almost zero regulation around it all. it should be law that if something was generated by ai in any capacity, then it needs a clear label.
chat gpt is another one. people are using it in replace of therapy. speaking to it like it's a real person, asking advice about extremely nuanced human topics that a computer could never learn. plus, the whole system seems to be built on giving its user nothing but clear confirmation bias (like most algorithms are). i don't mean to judge anyone using it in that way though. i place the blame on tech companies who prey on vulnerable humans, who are doing the best they can with the tools they have.
it's causing such a deep regression in society. people are searching for community, but feel too much anxiety to be able to build it. we're also reportedly becoming less intelligent than our predecessors. our brain needs exercise, but we're defaulting to letting robots do the heavy lifting for us.
i don't think ai in its entirety is bad, but we've got to draw a line somewhere. i did not sign up to participate in this black mirror episode!
anyway, rant over. dinner is a salmon teriyaki with rice, broccoli, avocado, and kale. it was delicious.
