Senators Mike Lee and Rick Scott are right to demand Congress stay in session and finish the people’s work. With critical issues on the table, jetting off for an extended August recess while major legislation remains unfinished is unacceptable.
Voters sent representatives to Washington to deliver results not extended vacations. In the private sector, you don’t get to walk away when deadlines loom. The American people expect the same accountability from their elected officials.
Prioritizing results over breaks shows real leadership. Lawmakers should heed this call, skip the vacation, and focus on passing meaningful legislation before leaving town. The work isn’t done until it’s done.
