Anthony Omari became widely known for his heroic actions on January 23, 2012, at the Faraja Children’s Home in Ngong, Kenya. When six armed men broke into the facility, Omari woke up and defended 37 sleeping orphans using only a hammer. During the struggle, he was severely injured when an attacker struck him in the face with a machete. Despite his injuries, he successfully protected the children and fended off the intruders.
