like a month ago, my dad’s house where i’m staying came into possession of these foster kitties, a mama (juneau) about little over a year old who was being starved by her previous owner, and her baby, a healthy now ~11 week old (paris.)
since we already had three cats, five is really pushing it, stressing the established group out and exacerbating my cat allergy. my parents are attached to juneau but were willing to give paris away. an old friend who lives nearby met her and is coming to pick her up around the end of the month.
i’m worried though that they’ve become a bonded pair. at first, juneau didn’t seem to care for her baby (probably due to stress) but ffw and they are inseparable. always playing and running around together. paris still breastfeeds. it’s been a while since i’ve seen paris sleeping anywhere other than with her mama. i don’t want to break their little hearts.
tonight i’m keeping paris in my room to see how she handles being away from juneau and i’m gonna keep doing so over the next few days. but i was wondering what this sub thinks; is it wise to break this family up? or is this just a phase baby will grow out of?
Edit: there’s been a little bit of crying but otherwise paris is doing fine, exploring playing and rolling around on her own
