According to new figures from the Council of Economic Advisers, more than 6.5 million American children have been enrolled in the new “Trump Accounts,” giving them an early opportunity to begin investing.
Since the federal savings program launched on July 4, many Americans have downloaded the accompanying app, which allows parents to manage government-sponsored investment accounts for their children.
Eligible children can receive a $1,000 government contribution, and families may also contribute additional funds. The accounts are managed by parents or guardians until the child turns 18, at which point the money can be used for qualifying expenses such as education, purchasing a home, or starting a business.
