Dinner: crackers and turkey deli with raspberries
I’ve been at my company 3.5 years and got let go yesterday. They’ve had layoffs every year since I’ve started but we had just passed the end of the financial year and apparently we were doing well so thought they skipped this year. Guess not!
But I also think it’s related to me having kids. I’ve had 2 during my time here and last year when they laid off my senior and close colleague I had already told them I was pregnant. My husband called it then and said I bet the baby bought you about a year and he was right. I think they waited the appropriate amount of time to make it seem not that related.
My boss even told me only a month or so ago he was putting me on more regional projects to keep the team strong and anyone from getting cut. Of course the reason for redundancy was “restructuring and budgets” blah blah. The CEO who’s always trying to be chatty and social in the office, never reached out to say a word to anyone who was let go either.
Guess I can take some time to enjoy stay at home mom life for a bit and then see what’s out there.
