For years, flyers have waited for airlines to add more economy seats so prices would finally come down.

Delta just said, on their earnings call, that it’s not happening.

Not this year. Not next year either.

Here’s why: budget airlines are dying off, capacity from ultra-low-cost carriers is down almost 30%, and Delta doesn’t need to compete on price anymore.

Fewer cheap seats across the industry means the ones that are left get MORE expensive, not less.

Meanwhile, Delta keeps adding bigger planes and rolling out more First Class, Delta One, and Comfort+ seats. Their new 787-10s will be over half premium seating.

The message is clear: pay more, or get squeezed into a shrinking coach section.
Delta’s CEO even said budget carriers may need to raise fares another 5% just to break even at current fuel prices.
