These preliminary findings provide the first official information regarding the South Carolina senator’s cause of death as authorities continue their investigation.
According to a statement, “The death certificate will remain pending until all toxicological and microscopic testing has been completed. Once those tests are finalized, the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death.”
